The Privacy of Limo Hire

The President of the United States is often cited as the most powerful man in the world. And, it seems the race to the White Houses is designed to ensure that only the strongest candidates survive - just ask Hilary Clinton. Ultimately, people get the leaders they elect; some say deserve.

While there are crazy days in every campaign, lately poor Barack Obama is in the news for all the wrong reasons. When two of his overzealous volunteers asked two young women in Muslim headscarves to move out of camera-shot at a Detroit rally, Obama's team spent most of the day apologising and assuring everyone this was not official campaign policy, while at the same time keeping an eye on another circus unfolding in Washington.

Larry Sinclair, a gay man from Minnesota who alleges he snorted cocaine and had sex with the Democratic nominee in a limousine, held a news conference there. While his allegations have been sloshing around on the internet for six months, he has struggled to get mainstream media interest - in a story he claims began in the back of a limousine in Chicago in 1999 - after he took a polygraph test and failed.

Although Sinclair named the limousine driver, he wasn't sure where he was. The limousine company appears to have gone into liquidation. Phone records are being sought from Sinclair's provider, but the search has been hampered by the fact that he changed his number four times in two months in late 2007. Sinclair's credibility suffered another blow when at the end of the news conference two police officers arrived and arrested him on an outstanding warrant!
 
There is another point to be made about this supposed incident, and that is whether what happens in a limo should stay in the limo and should the alleged chauffeur tell what really happened? Legally the chauffer has a responsibility to report any illegal activities taking place in their limo, like underage drinking or drug use. But, what happens between two consenting adults in the privacy of a limo should remain private.
